G1 – 1600m – Turf

1

Duckadilly

Has had issues, only racing four times and, though has reached a respectable level, would be a very unlikely winner against confirmed G1-class rivals.

2

Fallen Angel

Third G1 winner of her career, returning to her best with a brave victory over January in a 1600m Deauville G1. Handles any ground but especially formidable on a slow surface. Chance.

3

Queen Of Thunder

Close to a 1400m G3 win at Tipperary last time, a good effort considering she had raced too keenly. More improvement could see her make an impact at probable long odds.

4

Sparks Fly

A terrific winning percentage strike-rate, landing 11 of 23 starts, with a slow or very slow surface right up her street. Very effective in Listed class but this G1 looks hard.

5

Vera’s Secret

A lightly-raced mare who has had some lengthy absences. But in pretty good shape this season, winning two G3s at Leopardstown. But the form of the later one has subsequently looked weak.

6

Atsila

Has been taking on top company without being disgraced or threatening to win either. Will need to make some sudden improvement if she is to feature loudly here.

7

California Dreamer

Only win so far came in a Dundalk maiden and, although she briefly threatened a shock win in a G1 Irish Classic at the Curragh in May, a win here would look most unlikely.

8

Cathedral

David Egan’s mount ran much better than her odds suggested when quite a close fourth in a Royal Ascot G1 over this trip. Then favourite for a Chantilly G3, finding one too good.

9

Cercene

Surged up the Ascot straight to gain a shock G1 win on fast ground in June.  A solid second on much slower conditions at Goodwood. This stiff 1600m should suit well.

10

Exactly

Although her form figures don’t read that well she has finished relatively close up in G1s on her last four starts. Chances if a few of her rivals underperform.

11

January

After making smooth headway looked as though she would win a 1600m G1 at Deauville last month only to be run out of it by Fallen Angel in a thrilling finish, another classy G1 effort without quite winning one. Chance.
