2391m – Turf
1 | Mount Atlas | A consistent and probably still improving performer who defied a big weight to land an Ascot handicap over a similar trip to this last month. Well worth considering. |
2 | Naqeeb | Competes and is effective over various trips, dropping to around 2000m at Goodwood when just failing to match the finishing kick of a sharply improved handicapper. |
3 | This Songisforyou | From a very shrewd Irish stable, he couldn’t handle G3 company last time but capable of some big performances in handicaps. Interesting if strong in the betting. |
4 | Insanity | Didn’t make much impact in this race last year. Has run a couple of good races in 2025, winning at Ayr and a close third at Ascot. A brisk gallop would suit. |
5 | French Duke | Well fancied for good handicaps on his last two starts but hasn’t made nearly enough progress from the back. Chances if back to some hot handicap form last year. |
6 | Champagne Prince | No wins on turf yet though did go close in an Ascot handicap at around this time last year. Gelded since a poor effort on his latest start. |
7 | Chillingham | Has run well here including a victory (gained after a disqualification) over this C&D in June. But struggled back here last month. |
8 | Zanndabad | Yet to win since moving from France to Ireland. From a shrewd Irish stable but hard to assess and probably needs a longer trip than this. |
9 | Asgard’s Captain | Possibilities here if in the same mood that saw him easily capture an Epsom handicap in April. But has made lesser impact off higher marks since. |
10 | Marhaba The Champ | Only narrowly defeated at Doncaster, a positive effort and perhaps it signifies a return to the sort of form that saw him win this race back in 2023. Wants fast ground. |
11 | Austrian Theory | Career wins over shorter trips than this making him look vulnerable here. Well beaten on last two starts. |
