The Hong Kong Jockey Club bought a trio of eye-catching colts at the recent 2025 Arqana August Yearling Sale (16-18 August) in Deauville, France for a total outlay of €510,000 (approx. HK$4.578 million).
Lot 264 is a bay son of Justify, secured for €260,000. The young colt has ties to 2013/14 Hong Kong Champion Stayer Dominant, while his dam Sola Luna is a sister to Zhui Feng, a winner at Royal Ascot. Justify’s leading progeny in Hong Kong is recent Group 3 triumphant Pray For Mir.
Lot 137 was the first to fall the Club’s way for €70,000, a bay colt by Dark Angel, sire of 2022 Hong Kong International Sale graduate Smart Beauty – a five-time winner, as well as Group 1 stars Charyn, Battaash, Harry Angel, Mad Cool and Khaadem, among others.
Lot 156, a bay colt by Churchill, went to the Club for €180,000. The striking juvenile hails from the same family as Hong Kong’s global champion Romantic Warrior, while his sire’s top progeny in the city is Group 3 winner Encountered – a victor of seven races in Hong Kong.
