Clearly likes Ascot’s straight 1600m, quickening clear in a handicap here in May then a close third of 30 in a red-hot Royal Ascot handicap.

Won his first three starts this season, all at around this trip. Didn’t feature at Royal Ascot after a 6lb rise but had a difficult trip then.

Made little impact over this C&D on only previous Ascot run. Not especially consistent but did win a fast-ground 1600m handicap in May.

Nearly all his races have been at around 1400m but they do include a fast-finishing defeat of 16 rivals here in May.

Won his first two starts, even better on his third and latest run when only just failing to land a Chester handicap despite a tricky passage.

Gelded since his last start and that will need to help as he faded out over this C&D when last seen.

Has had training issues but he did win a handicap at around this trip at Doncaster in June. Neil Callan rides him for the first time.

Made little impact on his handicap debut at Royal Ascot but then completely outclassed his rivals in novice company at Windsor. Worth considering.

Just two career wins, but the fact that he has twice been placed – including this month – in hot handicaps over this straight 1600m is encouraging.
