The stage is set for the season’s coveted “Battle for the Staying Crown”, the final leg of the Triple Crown – the HK$13 million G1 Standard Chartered Champions & Chater Cup (2400m) – on Sunday (25 May) at Sha Tin Racecourse.
Excitement is building as Voyage Bubble, winner of the first two legs of the Triple Crown, is aiming to become the second horse after the great River Verdon (1993/94) to sweep the series. This year’s line-up also features Great Britain’s Dubai Honour, BMW Hong Kong Derby hero Cap Ferrat and rising star Bundle Award. The Standard Chartered Champions & Chater Cup is run as Race 8 at 4.10pm as part of an 11-race fixture, which starts at 12.30pm.
Hong Kong champion Romantic Warrior will be honoured for his record-breaking feats in the Middle East during a special ceremony in Sha Tin’s Parade Ring at 3.10pm. Our global champion’s presence offers an opportunity for racing fans to pay tribute to his outstanding achievements and, jockey James McDonald will reunite with the horse in the Parade Ring, along with his connections.
Admission to Sha Tin and Happy Valley Racecourses commences at 10.30am.
