G1 – 1200m – Turf

Mad Cool Top sprinter who won this race last year on yielding ground before finishing last of 11 behind Invincible Sage in the G1 Chairman’s Sprint Prize (1200m) after contesting the lead with California Spangle. Returned to form with second to Namura Clair in the G2 Hanshin Cup (1400m) at Kyoto on 21 December. One of the main chances.
Win Greatest Veteran galloper who chased home Mama Cocha when third in the G3 Ocean Stakes (1200m) at Nakayama on 1 March. Group 2 winner and capable on his day.
Big Caesar Racing in career-best form with seven wins from 18 starts. Has won his past two outings with success last start in the G3 Keihan Hai (1200m) defeating Win Carnelian and Vento Voce. Rising talent who is one of the chances.
Travesura Veteran with four wins and seven minor placings from 37 starts. Has not won since landing the Listed Yodo Tankyori Stakes over this course and distance in 2021. Needs to improve markedly.
Off Trail Emerging four-year-old with three wins and five minor placings from 12 starts. His best win so far came in the G3 Radio Nikkei Sho (1800m) at Fukushima last June but has shown glimpses of form since reverting to shorter trips.
Lugal High-class sprinter who finished 11th behind Ka Ying Rising in the G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) in December after suffering interference and racing wide. Proved his quality by winning the 2024 G1 Sprinters Stakes (1200m) at Nakayama, downing a field including Victor The Winner and Mugen. Hard to beat at his best.
Mozu Meimei Five-year-old mare with five wins from 19 starts. Her best win came as a three-year-old in the 2023 G2 Tulip Sho (1600m) at Hanshin but her recent form has been moderate. Has not won since landing the G3 Ibis Summer Dash (1000m) at Niigata last July and needs to improve.
Kangchenjunga Winner of five of 17 starts, including last-start success in the G3 Hankyu Hai (1400m) when he charged from turn to win comfortably at Kyoto on 22 February. This is harder but will be finishing strongly.
Kitano Express Seven-year-old galloper with five wins from 20 starts, racing in career-best form after impressive victory over 1200m at Kokura on 16 February. This is a significant rise in class but in good form.
Satono Reve Star sprinter with seven wins and two minor placings from 11 starts. Resuming after finishing third to Ka Ying Rising in the G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) in December when he ran on strongly. Dual Group 3 winner over 1200m and is the horse to beat.
Suzu Khalom Five-year-old horse with four wins and four minor placings from 15 starts. Ran second to Drop Of Light in the G3 CBC Sho over this course and distance in August. One of the place chances.
Toshin Macau Had little luck when ninth behind Ka Ying Rising in the G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) in December. Multiple Group-level winner with seven wins from 21 starts. Best win to date was over this course and distance in the G2 Centaur Stakes. One of the main hopes.
A Shin Fencer Consistent mare with six wins from 19 starts and fresh off the biggest win of her career, having won the G3 Silk Road Stakes (1200m) beating Grand Est and Win Carnelian. Has won her past two starts and can run well again.
Namura Clair Outstanding sprinting mare who boasts six wins and 10 minor placings from 20 starts. Has finished second in this race for the past two years including last year when beaten by Mad Cool before avenging that loss with a powerful finishing burst to win the G2 Hanshin Cup (1400m) at Kyoto on 21 December. Hard to beat again.
Mama Cocha Outstanding sprinting mare with seven wins from 19 starts, winning the 2023 G1 Sprinters Stakes (1200m). Returned to top form with victory in the G3 Ocean Stakes (1200m) at Nakayama on 1 March. Always a threat at the highest level.
Balsam Note Winner of four of 17 starts. Biggest victory came in the Listed Toki Stakes (1400m), clocking 1m 20.2s. Likes to race on the pace. Would need to improve drastically on last-start 15th in the G3 Negishi Stakes (1400m).
Drop Of Light Six-year-old mare with five wins from 22 starts. Narrowly won the G3 CBC Sho (1200m) three starts back before drawing barrier 16 and finishing seventh, beaten 4.5l last start in the Listed Yodo Tankyori Stakes (1200m). Worth another chance.
Pair Pollux Another progressive four-year-old with three wins and five minor placings from 11 starts. Impressive winner of the Listed Lapis Lazuli Stakes (1200m) and fought on strongly when second behind Mama Cocha in the G3 Ocean Stakes (1200m) at Nakayama on 1 March. One of the threats.
