Hong Kong Jockey Club buys five at Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale

The Hong Kong Jockey Club purchased five eye-catching colts at the recent 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale (7-13 January) in Queensland, Australia for a combined outlay of AU$1,445,000 (approx. HK$6,974,000).  

Lot 3 was the first to fall the Club’s way for AU$220,000. The striking colt by Maurice is a half-brother to the Group 3-winning Extremely Lucky. Maurice’s best progeny are Group 1 winners Hitotsu, Mazu, Geraldina, Jack d’Or, Pixie Knight and Admire Zoom, among others.  

Lot 6 went to the Club for AU$100,000. The youngster’s dam is six-time winner Tarquinn Shadow, while his sire Capitalist is known for Hong Kong talents Superb Capitalist, Capital Delight, Sunlight Power and Geneva.

Lot 103 was secured for AU$400,000 by the Club. The four-time winning Write The Score is his dam, while his sire Toronado boasts Hong Kong Group 1 winner Victor The Winner among his progeny as well as 2024 Four-Year-Old Classic Series star Helios Express, Group 3 triumphant Senor Toba and youngster Packing Power.

The gavel fell at AU$300,000 for Lot 762 – a son of I Am Invincible. Hong Kong International Sale graduate Markwin is among the sire’s best active progeny in Hong Kong along with five-time winner Sergeant Pepper.

Lot 1001 – a son of Hellbent – was bought by the Club for AU$425,000. Sky Joy and Tattenham are among the sire’s leading runners in Hong Kong at present. The colt’s full brother Hell To Pay recently won a AU$250,000 (approx. HK$1.19 million) Magic Millions Maiden Plate (1400m) at the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia at his fifth start.
