1st: ROMANTIC WARRIOR – James McDonald
“Unbelievable. I’m so goddam proud of this horse. It’s just been a remarkable effort by Danny and his team. The Japanese put it to him but with no luck. Forget the rest, he’s the best. He has been flying; anyone could ride him, he’s that easy. I’m the lucky one, he’s the horse of a lifetime.
This was our moment, we’ve made history and it felt like I was lining up for the winning kick for the All Blacks. It was a ‘pinch me’ moment.”
2nd: LIBERTY ISLAND – Yuga Kawada
“It was a good run. She kept focused and concentrated. She put in a good finish but the winner is very strong.
3rd: TASTIERA – Damian Lane
“He ran great. He did all the work on the speed and gave it a good kick, but a couple with fresh legs ran him down. He was very good.”
4th: THE FOXES – Oisin Murphy
“I was delighted with his effort. We had to come back from a wide draw but I thought the pace was pretty honest and he stayed on all the way to the line. The winner is a very, very good horse.”
5th: STRAIGHT ARRON – Brenton Avdulla
“He ran really well and tried hard. He did his best.”
6th: CALIF – Adrie de Vries
“We had a good run around. He quickened well, but did not get home well. He got tired the last 200m.”
7th: CONTENT – Ryan Moore

8th: SPIRIT DANCER – Oisin Orr
“I got caught a bit wide but he felt a bit flat today.”
9th: NIMBLE NIMBUS – Andrea Atzeni
“We had a good trip from a good draw. He travelled strongly. He just lacks a bit of ability against these.”
10th: WINGSPAN – Wayne Lordan
“She ran okay, but I think a mile and a half might be more suitable.”
11th: ENCOUNTERED – Hugh Bowman
“He was a bit closer than he likes to be and unfortunately he finished accordingly.”
