1400m – Turf

1 Diamond Diesel Drops back a lot in grade after finishing tailed out in the G2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill at his last outing.  Handles all track conditions and rates as a chance.
2 King Of The Castle Hasn’t won since last November when he claimed a 1600m handicap at Kembla Grange. Has since scored a couple of places but was unplaced at latest in the Coffs Cup (1600m).
3 Ruby Flyer Won over 1600m on the heavy at Randwick before going for a spell. Resumed last month with a 9th over 1400m at Rosehill. Has won once second up.
4 Estadio Mestalla Ran three seconds in a row before resuming with an unplaced run over 1200m at Randwick at big odds. Had no luck in the run when was held up. Worth following.
5 Super Helpful Is first-up for this. Has previously won two from five fresh runs. Has won a trial and been second in another one to prepare for this tough assignment.
6 Willaidow On-pacer who scored a first-up victory over 1400m on a soft Rosehill track last month when raced handy on the lead. Also has a good second up record and is worth plenty of thought.
7 Cuban Royale Wasn’t fancied last start and ran accordingly, finishing 14 of 15 at Randwick over 1200m, beaten 6.39L. Needs to find significant improvement to be competitive.
8 Green Shadows Up to this level last start, just plodded when beat five home over 1400m at Rosehill, beaten 7.83L. Won the Goulburn Cup the start before over 1400m
9 Secret Plan Recent form, including a 1400m Rosehill win, has been encouraging. Finished second at most recent run over 1400m, beaten 0.2L. Is rated a place chance at big odds in a tough race.
10 Overriding Back to 1400m after having first crack at 1600m when unplaced at Randwick at last start but not disgraced. Worth consideration as a rough place chance.
11 Behtar Former European making his Australian debut. His two wins have been beyond 2600m. Has been impressive in his three trials and certainly worth keeping an eye on the markets.
12 Ganbare Has always shown plenty of ability and resumes his career as a gelding. Has been good in his three trials leading into this and is ready to run a big first-up race.
13 Dalaalaat Has run on strongly at past two to finish fourth and third at Randwick and Rosehill over 1200m. Should appreciate the increase in distance to enhance his chances.
14 Battleton Recent form has been solid and just needs a bit of luck to figure in this. Was 2.57L of the winner at his last start at Randwick over 1200m when finishing 7th. Up to 1400m which should suit.
15 Danaustar Raced handy to the pace at his last start at Rosehill over 1400m when he finished 7th, beaten 6.24L. A place chance seems to be his best option.
16 Well Timed Withdrawn
17 Luvoir Resumed at Randwick last month with a 5.47L 9th over 1200m. Had four trials leading into his first-up run. Will race handy but a place chance appears his best hope.
  Reserves
18 Money From The Sky Got back but surged home strongly to easily win the Bathurst Cup (1800m) at his last start. Drops back in distance but is yet to win at 1400m. Not an easy task.
19 Iron Man Chased strongly last start to finish second behind Willaidow over 1400m at Rosehill, beaten 1.94L. Is only lightly raced with a good strike rate. Comes into consideration.
20 Franz Josef Has only been out of the money once in six starts which includes four wins. This is a big step up in grade but should be competitive. Has finished 11th at his last start at Rosehill over 1800m.
21 Thunderlips Overall form is good enough to be competitive in this. Hasn’t finished further back than fourth in past eight runs which includes two wins. Was 4th at his last start in the Dubbo Gold Cup (1600m).
