G1 - 2000m - Turf

1

American Sonja

Always prominent and kicked clear late on when winning a G3 over this course and distance back in April. Another terrific performance came when only just beaten in a 2000m Deauville G1 in August.

2

Running Lion

Excuses for a dismal run last time, and this Royal Ascot G2 winner on her penultimate start, has had a break since. Has occasionally been unlucky. This trip looks ideal.

3

Elusive Princess

Not beaten far in G3s over this trip on her last two starts. Well-travelled including a G3 victory at Saratoga last year but does not appeal as an obvious G1 winner.

4

Hanalia

Has won three of her six starts, the best being when making relentless headway from off the pace to beat some top middle-distance fillies and mares over this trip at the Curragh last month.

5

Sparkling Plenty

Swooped late to win 2100m Prix de Diane at Chantilly in June, prior to a close G1 third at Goodwood. Unable to reach the leaders when tried over 2400m here last time. This trip surely suits better.

6

Almara

Led for most of the trip when second in a soft-ground G2 over this course and distance back in May. Led throughout to win a G3 at Deauville last time, and again very likely to push forward here.

7

Ylang Ylang

A G1 Newmarket winner last year. Hasn’t won in four 2024 starts but some high-class performances in defeat and gave the impression that 2000m would help after her closing 1600m G1 fourth last time.

8

Start Of Day

A progressive filly with a good attitude who looks well suited to this trip. Showed she belonged in group races when a close second in a 2000m G3 here last month. Needs even more in this hot G1.

9

Friendly Soul

Apart from one very poor show when hot favourite she is unbeaten, posting a career best when leading throughout to win a 2000m G2 at Deauville in August. Very slow ground not wanted.

10

Fallen Angel

Led nearly throughout when landing 1600m G1 Irish 1000 Guineas at the Curragh. Returned over three and a half months later for a very good G1 second at Leopardstown. Positive hints from her pedigree for this rise to 2000m. Chance.

11

Content

A narrow defeat in a G1 (the Curragh) and a narrow victory in a G1 (York) suggest that she is a serious player here even though dropping back in trip. A brave filly, but her rider will want to get her relaxed early.
