G1 – 1400m – Turf
Ballymount Boy |
Can be slow to get going in his races but is strong in the closing stages. Looked well suited to this trip when second in a fast-ground G3 at York in August. |
Beauvatier |
Not very big, but this classy colt is unbeaten in all four starts, and gained a G3 success (as an odds-on favourite) over this course and distance in September, accelerating impressively. |
Evade |
Ran poorly at Deauville but much better when only finding the unbeaten Beauvatier too strong over this course and distance, a good show after a slow start and pulling too hard. Supplemented. |
Henry Adams |
A big strong colt who has won both starts – at around this trip – narrowly each time but showing plenty of pace latterly in a soft-ground G3 at Leopardstown in July. He wore blinkers that day. |
Jayarebe |
Made an excellent start to his career when outspeeding the more experienced red-hot favourite in a novices’ event at Newmarket in August. He posted a fast time on that debut run. |
Johannes Brahms |
Has shown plenty of promise in all four starts including a close second in a 1200m G2 at York in August. He should be fine at this longer trip. Probably best suited to good or faster ground. |
Native American |
Supplemented into this and unbeaten in two starts – on contrasting ground conditions – with his rapid acceleration in a valuable ‘Sales’ race at The Curragh being eye-catchingly impressive. |
Rosallion |
Cruised into contention and shot clear to gain a very impressive 1400m Listed win at Ascot in July. Not as good up to G2 company at Doncaster, too keen and probably not happy on slow ground. |
Unquestionable |
Lots of early promise, only just failing to win a G2 at The Curragh with first and second clear. A bitter disappointment for a G1 there in August, but very valid excuses after hitting his head in the gate. |
West Man |
Leading 300m out, he briefly looked like winning a G3 over this trip at Baden-Baden in August, still a close and very respectable third. This French G1 looks a much stronger event, however. |
Zabiari |
Has improved race by race according to facts and figures, latterly winning a 1600m G3 here in September. Drops back down in trip should not be an issue. All four starts so far on slow ground. |
