FWD QEII Cup

DANON THE KID – JPN
Both Danon The Kid and Aguri worked in the trotting ring, respectively, for around 60 minutes under assistant Keiichiro Yasuda.

Keiichiro Yasuda said: “As both of them are in top form and are ready for tomorrow, I do not have to do more. I gave them conditioning flat works to tick them over in the trotting ring during the time the temperature was still cool this morning. I am looking forward to the big runs with them.”

DUBAI HONOUR – GB
Cantered on the all-weather track with trainer William Haggas on hand to observe the gelding’s final exercise.

“There’s nothing I can do at this stage of his preparation and nor do I have to as the team has done a great job with him over the past ten weeks or so from Sydney all the way through to Hong Kong.

“The horse is well and the feedback from Issy (Paul) and James (Hobbs) has been positive. He’s well suited racing right handed, he came here in good form and we’re hopeful he’ll run his race again tomorrow,” Haggas said.

GERALDINA – JPN
Did a light work in the trotting ring for 50 minutes.

The assistant Masaru Danno said: “She is a fitting horse going into the race. She had a little travel pain after she flew into Hong Kong, but her form is improving and I think she is in great order now.”

PROGNOSIS – JPN
Worked on the main all-weather track, clocking 32.2s over 400m. Had been asked a touch to finish towards the end of the canter on the main all-weather track under the assistant Yasunari Kiyoyama.

Kiyoyama said: “I am happy with him. He tried to shift into another gear even after he passed the finish line. I think his condition has improved since yesterday. He was a bit shying with the screen on the track but was breathing well during the work. Everything has gone well. We will see how the race runs tomorrow.”

FWD Champions Mile

MY OBERON – AUS

Stretched his legs on the all-weather track with trainer Annabel Neasham watching on closely.

“Shari (Jamie) who’s been looking after him is very happy with him. He’s a quiet, fairly straightforward type of horse. He looks really well in his coat, he’s kept a nice summer coat on him and he seems to be thriving. He’s a well-travelled horse who copes well with the travel and any change of environment,” Neasham said.

As to his ground preference, Neasham said: “I don’t really know to be honest. His form in Europe suggests he goes well on top of the ground, whereas his form in Australia is pointed to the opposite which does happen a bit. I’d prefer it to rain but even if it does it’s not going to be a wet rack.

“He ran quite well at Flemington (G1 Cantala Stakes, 1600m) on a dry track last year after winning the Crystal Mile. I think he’s reasonably diverse in terms of the ground.”

Chairman’s Sprint Prize

AGURI – JPN
Both Danon The Kid and Aguri worked in the trotting ring, respectively, for around 60 minutes under assistant Keiichiro Yasuda.

Keiichiro Yasuda said: “As both of them are in top form and are ready for tomorrow, I do not have to do more. I gave them conditioning flat works to tick them over in the trotting ring during the time the temperature was still cool this morning. I am looking forward to the big runs with them.”
