The Hong Kong Jockey Club will celebrate National Day along with racing fans at Sha Tin Racecourse by hosting the National Day Race Meeting on Saturday, 1 October, welcoming customers with an advanced booking to come and enjoy an exciting 10-race programme, featuring the HK$3.9 million G3 National Day Cup Handicap (1000m).
The opening ceremony will begin in the Parade Ring at 12pm with cultural and artistic performances. Phoebe Tam Lok Hin, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholar and Soprano (Photo 1), will lead the singing of the national anthem, accompanied by the Hong Kong Police Band. Local troupe Gekko Taiko Centre will thrill racing fans with a mass drum performance before the afternoon’s racing action takes centre stage (Photos 2, 3).
The National Day Race Meeting is a 10-race fixture with the first race scheduled for 1pm. The day’s highlight is the National Day Cup, where an elite group of sprinters will duel it out down the famous Sha Tin straight (Photo 4). Gates open at 11am.
