The Club’s Chief Medical Officer has advised that Jockey Matthew M F Poon, who sustained rib fractures when dislodged from THE ELITES at the Happy Valley race meeting on 11 November 2020, has been cleared to resume riding track work from Thursday 3 December 2020 as part of his recovery process. Jockey Poon will undergo a further medical assessment on 4 December with a decision to be made at that time as to when he may be cleared to resume riding in races. In the meantime, Jockey Poon has not accepted race riding engagements for the race meetings to be conducted on 6 and 9 December 2020.
The Chief Medical Officer has also advised that Jockey Matthew Chadwick, who suffered a concussion when dislodged from LUCKY FUN at the Sha Tin race meeting on Sunday 29 November 2020, has today been discharged from hospital. Jockey Chadwick will continue to undergo the relevant tests and treatment in accordance with the Club’s post-concussion rehabilitation program and will be further assessed with a view to being cleared to resume race riding at the Happy Valley race meeting on Wednesday 9 December 2020.
Further announcements in respect of the availability of Jockeys Poon and Chadwick to resume race riding will be made at the relevant time.
