1st – ADMIRE MARS – Christophe Soumillon
“What a horse. I decided to go to Japan this winter and it has really paid off. I was so confident – I thought I might have a fight when Joao came up to me but he’s a real fighter. It’s great to be part of history.”
2nd – WAIKUKU – Joao Moreira
“Extremely good run, he had to face a tough gate and I had to drag him back. He wasn’t having much luck from there but it was a good second to a good horse. We didn’t have too much luck from the gate and I think that is what has got him beaten. That’s the reason why I pulled him back otherwise I was going to get tracked wide.”
3rd – BEAUTY GENERATION – Zac Purton
“Disappointing mate. He’s just not finishing off in the straight.”
4th – NORMCORE – Christophe Lemaire
“Ran very well, we could take a good position behind the leaders, she travelled very well all the way round. She took a little bit of time to respond but she gave her best and fourth in this kind of race is a good result.”
5th – PERSIAN KNIGHT – Oisin Murphy
“No excuses, followed the winner, he did everything right. He was in good condition. He gave us a good run. I thought I could win.”
6th – CITRON SPIRIT – Vincent Ho
“He ran okay, he’s an old horse and he needs to sprint home really well with those young horses. He didn’t have the speed to go with them.”
7th – INDY CHAMP – Damian Lane
“He was fine before the gate but once inside he got nervous and he took a step away from the stalls so I ended up in an awkward spot. Due to the slow pace of the race we did not get a good run.”
8th – ZAAKI – Ryan Moore
—
9th – KA YING STAR – Karis Teetan
“Disappointed with him.”
10th – SIMPLY BRILLIANT – Alexis Badel
“It was a tactical race, there was not a lot of pace, not crazy, the field has been very compact and I couldn’t travel anywhere else than three deep but anyway my horse looks in good form but it’s been very tough for him today.”
