The Hong Kong Jockey Club bought three attractive colts at the recent Goffs Orby Yearling Sale in Ireland for a total cost of €470,000 (approximately HK$4.36 million) .

The first of that trio to pass through the ring was Lot 24, a bay colt by the smart racer and stallion Big Bad Bob. The youngster hails from an outstanding family, tracing back to his fourth dam, Pasodoble, whose finest produce was the exceptional race mare Miesque.

The yearling’s third dam, Yogya, is a half-sister to Miesque and is the dam of no less a galloper than the champion filly Six Perfections. The Club went to €110,000 to snare the colt, whose own dam is an unraced half-sister to the Listed-placed Magic Of Reality.

The Club paid €260,000 for Lot 182, a Kodiac half-brother to Radiohead, winner of the G2 Norfolk Stakes (1000m) at Royal Ascot and subsequently third, as a juvenile, in the G1 Nunthorpe Stakes (1000m).

A bay colt by War Command wrapped up the Club’s involvement. The youngster, Lot 445, is out of Gold Bubbles – second in the G3 Musidora Stakes – from a prolific black type family. The third dam is the dual North American G1 winner By Land By Sea.
