The annual National Day Race Meeting at Sha Tin Racecourse on Sunday, 1 October will be an exciting day of sporting action enwrapped in cultural charm.

National Day celebrations bring exciting sport and cultural charm
As well as a strong line-up of racing action, racegoers can enjoy performances from world-acclaimed artists, nab the all-new National Day-themed souvenirs, and savour specially-created cuisine. Tourists to Hong Kong will be offered free admission.
Parade Ring festivities
The day's festivities will begin at 11:50am in the Parade Ring with Chi Liming. A famous tenor and national first-class performer, he will perform the Chinese National Anthem and other famous melodies, accompanied by the Hong Kong Police Band. Another highlight will be an amazing Zen and Martial Arts Head Balance performance by the Zhejiang Folk Art & Acrobatics General Troupe, Guinness World Record holders, no less.
Limited edition souvenirs
To mark Hong Kong’s 20th anniversary of reunification, the Hong Kong Jockey Club is honoured to have joined forces with the Xu Beihong Arts Committee to issue a Special National Day Commemorative Gold-Plated Medal and Fine Silver Medal. The coin’s front side is cast with Xu Beihong’s Ben Ma Tu and Li Ma Tu, while the reverse carries The Hong Kong Jockey Club logo and the words Hong Kong’s Twentieth Anniversary of Reunification and The National Day Cup.
A souvenir cover combining the image of Xu Beihong’s legendary painting Li Ma Tu with 2016/17 National Day Cup winner Amazing Kids will be issued by the Club and Hongkong Post. Each souvenir cover is an extraordinary memento.

Free admission for tourists
Tourists to Hong Kong will be offered free admission to the Public Enclosure (excluding fee-charging venues) at Sha Tin Racecourse for the National Day Race Meeting (1 October). Free admission will be offered by presenting a valid travel document at the gate.
Feature races
The day’s high-class feature races are the season’s first two Group races – the G3 National Day Cup (1000m) and the G3 Celebration Cup (1400m). The National Day Race Meeting is a 10-race programme, with the first starting at 12:45 pm. Sha Tin Racecourse will open at 10:45am on 1 October.
