1st – GLORIOUS FOREVER – Silvestre de Sousa
“Everything was in my favour, the draw was perfect for riding a horse who could be one or two in the run. Everything went to the plan.
“I didn’t want to overdo it in front but to make sure Time Warp didn’t come around, I had to make sure we were going a true gallop. I won the battle for the first 300 metres and I was going so well at the 800 (metres), I thought to myself they would have to be very good to pick him up; it would have to be one of the Europeans because I didn’t think Time Warp would come again.”
2nd – DEIRDRE – Christophe Lemaire
“She ran very good. It was a good pace and she was very relaxed all the way around. She picked up very well and has a long acceleration, giving all at the finish. Well done to the winner as he made the running and never gave up. The best horse won today.”
3rd – TIME WARP – Zac Purton
“It was a good race – he has run really well – I was proud of him.”
4th – SUNGRAZER – Joao Moreira
“He is a lovely horse and he tries hard – he just faced some better horses on the day. I was very pleased with his performance.”
5th – NORTHERN SUPERSTAR – Karis Teetan
“He had a very good run. When I asked him, he quickened up and this horse had only had one run previously in Hong Kong and I think there is a lot of improvement.”
6th – GOLD MOUNT – Oisin Murphy
“The pace wasn’t that hot, but he ran well.”
7th – SEASONS BLOOM – Ryan Moore
“He just ran the way he has been going. The race wasn’t run to suit but he ran respectable and improved a bit, I think.”
8th – STORMY ANTARCTIC – James Doyle
“He actually ran very well. I was quite proud of him considering the way the race developed from my outside draw. He got a bit spooked by a man up in the gate and flopped out – jumped really slowly so I just hooked down the fence. The race got really strung out and we ended up miles back.”
9th – STAPHANOS – William Buick
“He missed the kick and was further back than I wanted to be. He is getting a bit old now, but ran OK and wasn’t beaten all that far. With a better start, he would have finished closer.”
