As one of the highlights of The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Year of the Horse campaign, the HK$26 million BMW Hong Kong Derby (2000m) will be run and won this Sunday (22 March) at Sha Tin Racecourse, offering once-in-a-lifetime glory to Hong Kong’s rising stars. As the pinnacle of the Four-Year-Old Classic Series, the BMW Hong Kong Derby is one of the great sporting events and attractions in the city for both racing fans in Hong Kong and from around the world.
Admission to Sha Tin and Happy Valley Racecourses will commence at 11am with the first race scheduled for 1pm. All entrants will receive a designated Derby Cap* before 3.30pm, or while stocks last.
This year’s race is headlined by HK$13 million Hong Kong Classic Mile (1600m) winner Little Paradise and HK$13 million Hong Kong Classic Cup (1800m) triumphant Stormy Grove, winners of the first two legs of the Four-Year-Old Classic Series, along with 12 other emerging stars. First run in 1873, the Hong Kong Derby has a proud history having been won by champions Golden Sixty (2020), Romantic Warrior (2022) and Voyage Bubble (2023) in recent years.
