The 2026 Year of the Horse Raceday, one of the keynote events of The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Year of the Horse campaign, will be held at Sha Tin Racecourse on Thursday, 19 February (the third day of Chinese New Year). A festive programme of feature races and themed activities will be held to welcome in the Year of the Horse together with racing fans and raceday tourists.
Racecourse entrants will receive a designated Windmill Fortune Pen before 3.30pm, or while stocks last, whichever occurs first.* Sha Tin Racecourse racegoers can scan the designated QR code on the package of the Pen or other designated QR codes onsite, to enter the lucky draw, which offers a total of 1,888 prizes, including Selected Year of the Horse Collectible Art Pieces by the Xu Beihong Art Committee.^
The day will kick off with a Variety Show featuring pop diva Kelly Chen, as well as golden trio FAMA x Mak Ling-ling.@ Similarly to all race meetings throughout the season, visitors to Hong Kong, upon showing a valid travel document, can enter the Public Enclosure of both racecourses free of charge.# The HK$3.12 million Class 2 Year of the Horse Cup Handicap (1600m) is the feature contest of the day’s 11-race programme.
Additionally, to usher in the Year of the Horse, The Hong Kong Jockey Club will offer a total of HK$238 million in prizes during the Chinese New Year, including a grand jackpot to mark the Year of the Horse Raceday.+ %

The 11-race programme commences at 12.30pm. Gates at both racecourses open at 10.30am. All Sha Tin and Happy Valley entrants will receive a designated Windmill Fortune Pen* before 3.30pm, or while stocks last, whichever occurs first.* Sha Tin Racecourse entrants can participate in the “Sha Tin Racecourse Delights presents Year of the Horse Raceday Golden Lucky Draw”^ by scanning the QR code on the Windmill Fortune Pen or other designated QR codes onsite.
Star-Studded Year of the Horse Variety Show
A star-studded Year of the Horse Variety Show@ is to be held at 11am in Sha Tin’s Parade Ring. Pop diva Kelly Chen will perform a selection of her hit songs, before golden trio FAMA x Mak Ling-ling join in to spread festive cheer and New Year good fortune. Lion dancers will provide further auspicious energy, while jockeys will extend their New Year blessings.

Music and film superstar Aaron Kwok will make his debut appearance at Sha Tin racecourse to share festive blessings with racegoers as “The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Year of the Horse Ambassador” at the Year of the Horse Raceday.
“As the Year of the Horse Ambassador, I feel a strong sense of mission,” Kwok said. “I hope to send my blessings to everyone and deliver well wishes for a joyous and prosperous New Year!”
HK$238 million Year of the Horse Mega Prizes
With accumulated jackpot and top-ups, a grand jackpot of an estimated total of HK$38 million will be offered for the Year of the Horse Raceday.
A jackpot of HK$15 million has been accumulated for the Triple Trio and the dividend for a single HK$10 winning unit could reach an estimated HK$28 million.
Additionally, topped up from the Operator Reserve, a jackpot of HK$1 million will be offered for the first Double Trio, and the dividend for a single HK$10 winning unit could reach an estimated HK$6 million.
Topped up from the Operator Reserve and the Jackpot Reserve, a jackpot total of HK$4 million will be offered to the Quartet and First 4 Merged Pool for Race 1 (HK$1 million), Race 8 (HK$1 million) and Race 11 (HK$2 million).
Following the race meeting, there will be the largest ever Mark Six Snowball draw to be held on 21 February, the fifth day of the Chinese New Year. The First Division Prize Fund for the Year of the Horse Snowball draw is estimated to reach HK$200 million.
