| 3 | Bournemouth | Returned to form with a second behind Zatara Magic last start but was 2.25L adrift of that galloper and the step up in grade looks a bridge too far. |
| 4 | Ahead Of The Facts | Comes out of the same Holding Thumbs race on 10 January as Magic Verse, finishing 2.65L away in fourth, and has strung together a sustained run of solid form. Strong place chance. |
| 5 | Navajo Nation | Boasts a win and a second from his past two starts but enters stronger company here and shapes as one of the outsiders of the race. Look elsewhere. |
| 6 | Triple Time | Was beaten nearly 7.95L by Holding Thumbs last start and would need to improve significantly to be in the hunt here. Has placed twice in this race before, however, so has the ability to be competitive. |
| 7 | Master Redoute | Won this race two years ago and has raced at the top level since. Disappointed last start, however, and might be past his best. Prefer others. |
| 8 | Holding Thumbs | Strong last-start winner of the G3 Chairman’s Cup (2500m) at Kenilworth on 10 January and brings the best form into the race. Is a proven stayer and looks hard to beat. |
