Disappointing last start when only battled to finish 5.4L 9th of 14 in G2 1400m on 3 January. Won the G1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas (1600m) in November. Best on soft going.

Affirmative Action

Ultra-consistent gelding who has two wins, a second and two thirds from his five races. Had no luck last start when 1.5L 3rd of eight in G2 1400m on 26 December. Worth following.

He Who Dares

Raced wide in the early stages and then took the lead at the 1000m mark but was caught on the line to finish a 0.3L second in G2 1400m on 26 December. Leading chance.

Argo

Finished third, beaten 2.3L, behind La Dorada in G2 1400m on 3 January. Yet to race beyond 1400m but gives the impression 1600m will suit.

Sweet Ice

This is his toughest race after a third and second at last two starts. Has been placed twice on yielding tracks, but handles all conditions. Tough at this level.

Now Not Never

Has only raced twice and broke his maiden status at his last start over 1400m when settled second. Bred to get a trip but this is a tough assignment.

Fat Cat

Only win was in a 1200m maiden in July last year. Hasn’t done much in his four runs since then, including last start 1.9L 5th of seven when tried hard over 1500m on 11 January.

Well Written

High quality filly who is unbeaten in all of her four races and is entitled to be the raging favourite. Is already a G1 winner over 1600m and last start G2 1400m victor.

La Dorada

Rates as one of the top chances. Is a last start G2 1400m winner on 3 January after settling midfield from inside draw to finish strongly. Rise to 1600m for first time is ideal.

Lollapalooza

Ready to show her best after blundering at the start and racing keenly in the early stages when she finished second in G2 1600m on 26 December. Has a big finish.

War Princess

Was disappointing at her last run when was well beaten by 7.3L to finish 11th of 14 in G2 1400m on 3 January. While she didn’t have any luck, back to 1600m should suit.

Miss Ziggy

Last two races where she has finished second and first over 1500m and 1400m have been at a lower grade. Needs to make significant improvement to figure here.

Chilling Out

Had three trials before making her debut in December for a third over 1230m. Then won a 1400m maiden and followed it up with 1500m win on 11 January. Obvious improver but this is harder.

Fleeting Star

Yet to miss a place in her six races. Went from winning a 1400m maiden on 11 December to 15 days later finishing 1.2L third in 1600m G2. Will have some support at odds.
