1200m – Turf
Spirit | Ran fourth, beaten a length and a half, behind the reopposing Mauritius Kestrel at the course and distance last start and looks well placed here. Is one of the leading chances out of barrier one.
Nightrain | Began his career with two placings and then a win but has been less convincing in two starts since, finishing seventh two back then 11th last start, beaten 8.35L by Mauritius Kestrel.
Mauritius Kestrel | Produced a drought-breaking victory when saluting last start in a race featuring a number of this weekend’s opponents. Will be near the top of the market and looks hard to beat.
Catch A Penny | Rarely runs a bad race, missing the top three only twice in 16 career starts, and both of her wins have come in her past six runs. Should run well again and can figure.
Surge Of Power | Saluted at the course and distance in June but has beaten home only five rivals in five runs since. Needs to improve to figure and connections will hope the addition of blinkers will help him do just that.
Street Outlaw | This six-year-old gelding did win in the class last year but his recent form has been below his best. Prefer others.
Kelp Forest | Mixed his form in the latter stages of 2025 and has had a freshen up since running 13 of 14 in early November. Has the tools to challenge for a place if near his best.
Follow Your Heart | Three-year-old gelding has made a strong start to his career with a win and three placings from his first five starts. Steps up in trip after a last-start third over the Kenilworth 1000m.
Azzurri | Has been building towards top form in recent months and enters this race off the back of a strong second in that Mauritius Kestrel contest on 13 December. Among the top chances.
Match That | Three-year-old filly has won two of her five starts and certainly looks to have a future. Last-start success at the course and distance suggests she can be competitive here.
Miraculous | Returned to somewhere near her best form with a course-and-distance third last start and she can feature in the finish with a similar showing here. One for the exotics.
Loving Prague | Three-year-old colt has improved through each of his three starts and he comfortably accounted for his rivals over this course and distance last start. Must include.
Ireland Forever | Produced the best performance of his eight career starts when ringing up a second victory last time out. Looks well placed here and can figure.
Elsinore | Did win two starts back but would need to find significant improvement to be a winning chance here. There looks to be better betting options than the four-year-old.
Run For Cover | Struggled to find top form for much of 2025 and hasn’t raced since finishing sixth in September. Expected to need the run and can be discounted.
| Reserves | ||
Rhydian | Has been around the mark without winning in a number of his past seven starts but would need a lot to go right to be saluting for the first time since May. Prefer others.
Steadfast | Another to come out of that Mauritius Kestrel race, finishing 1.9L away in fifth, this galloper looks a level below the best of his opponents here.
Show Off | Has been ordinary in four starts since winning in April and connections would need to orchestrate a miraculous form reversal to be competitive. Drops in trip.
