2000m – Turf

Access

His sire Kiseki is the G1 Kikuka Sho (Japanese St. Leger) winner. Has been undergoing a thorough training regimen that combines uphill gallops and woodchip course work.  Has shown composure and performance on par with, or exceeding, more experienced older horses. He is lightly built with a long frame, ideal for stamina-based races.

Ekvator

Forever Young, who became the first Japanese-trained horse to win the G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic, has brought renewed attention to his sire, Real Steel. In addition to Forever Young, Real Steel has produced other successful offspring such as Lebensstil, a four-time graded stakes winner. His progeny have demonstrated versatility across different race conditions, and his position in the sire rankings has been steadily rising year by year.

Fiore Cloud

Her sire Contrail is a Triple Crown winner and has produced a listed race winner and a runner-up at G3.  Her dam Iceberg had shown consistent performances on dirt, and her dam’s sire is the 2002 & 2003 Horse of the Year, Symboli Kris S.

Four C Fine

While still shows some signs of immaturity when asked to quicken, Cristian Demuro has been aboard for the past two weeks of training and has given him solid workouts in paired gallops. Posted a respectable time of 1m 21.5s over 1200m.  With his lean and rangy frame, he may still be developing physically, but there’s a chance he could simply outclass this field on his true quality.

Hakuai Noir

Has been working well, posting solid times in strong gallops recently, indicating that his conditioning is progressing smoothly. He gives the impression that he can unleash a sharp turn of foot in the stretch, which should suit the inner turf course at Kyoto over 2000 m.

Ja Nalia

Sired by the 2019 G1 Satsuki Sho winner Saturnalia.  His half-brother Bell Pit, a 5-year-old horse by Pyro, is a 19-time winner from 25 career starts at NAR.

Jun Primero

His half-brother, Jun Gold, was a promising colt who won both his debut and 1-win class. While this colt’s early training did not stand out, suggesting he was still developing, he has been given ample work and appears to be a stamina-oriented type. He may lack a sharp turn of foot, so he is likely to benefit from a forwardly placed running style. Kyoto’s inner course should suit him well, and if he can secure a good position near the front, he has the tenacity to stay on strongly.

Long Tall Sally

Her sire is Kitasan Black. Although she has only been in the stable for about three weeks, trainer Yuichi Fukunaga has personally ridden her in three consecutive weeks of paired workouts. She has a straightforward temperament and a light, fluent action that indicates she should handle firm turf well. She looks capable of showing her ability in her debut.

Red Sedona

Sired by a Japanese Derby winner Kizuna, and his full sister Learn the Ropes has been a consistent performer in the three-win class. Has been given plenty of work since mid-September and has been clocking in the low 11-second range over the final furlong. In his final turf workout under Atsuya Nishimura, he moved comfortably with plenty left in hand. Physically, he looks well-defined and in peak condition.
