| 4 | Future History | Fought on okay in G3 2000m at Caulfield when 3.21L 3rd on 15 October when raced ungenerously. Won this race last year when led all the way. Has 2 wins and a second from 3 attempts at track/distance. Top chance. |
| 5 | Alenquer | French-bred and former British-raced stayer who spent nearly 2 years on the sidelines after being injured in the 2023 Melbourne Cup. Has struggled in 2 runs back and might take more racing. |
| 6 | Naval College | Improved run last start over 2000m when 2.36L 4th. Both runs before that he failed to finish off in better quality races. Is okay on his day but hasn’t won for more than a year. |
| 7 | Star Of India | Former European galloper who has been transferred to Chris Waller. His Australian form has generally been poor but latest was okay when 3.4L 6 of 12 over 1800m at Sandown on 27 September. |
| 8 | Sir Kingsford | Held his ground when raced on pace in the Murray Bridge Gold Cup (1600m) to finish 3 of 9, beaten 2.24L. Is honest and consistent who will be competitive at good odds. |
| 9 | Glentaneous | Has had 3 jump outs since last racing over 2540m at Flemington when over-raced to finish 6.17L 7 of 12. Needs to find form quickly based on past 2 efforts. |
| 10 | Lincoln Rocks | Former New Zealander who is yet to compete at this level. Had 2 wins and a 2nd at the track and distance in 3 consecutive races last year. And his last 3 races, including a 2040m 3rd on 6 September, have also been at the track. Rough place chance. |
