Hong Kong Jockey Club takes pair from Book 2 at Tattersalls October Yearling Sale

16/10/2025 14:50

The Hong Kong Jockey Club bought two eye-catching colts from Book 2 (13-15 October) at the recent Tattersalls October Yearling Sale in Newmarket, Great Britain for a total outlay of GNS480,000 (approx. HK$5.27 million).

Lot 1131 was secured by the Club for GNS200,000. The colt is by stallion Ghaiyyath, a four-time Group 1 winner, who bested the likes of Enable and Magical. His best progeny includes Observer, a recent third in last weekend’s (Saturday, 11 October) G1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) in Melbourne, Australia behind Autumn Boy. The bay’s dam, Rainbow Heart, has produced two winners from two runners.

The Club’s second purchase came as Lot 1164, a bay son of Sioux Nation, for GNS280,000. The colt has close ties to champion German filly Salve Regina. Sioux Nation has nine wins in Hong Kong from four runners, led by five-time victor Helene Feeling and the Group 3-placed Magic Control.
