G1 – 2400m – Turf

1

Alleno

German 4yo who has always been well thought of. Form tailed off after solid run in the 2024 German Derby but back to winning ways in German G2 in April. Break since a worry but his jockey won two of the last three runnings of this.

2

Cold Heart

A 5yo entire with a Brazilian suffix. A regular in World Pool races and quietly adapting to German conditions but this is his toughest task to date.

3

Dubai Honour

An international globetrotter and second in this last year when favourite. This looks a deeper field, but already an Australian G1 winner this season on favoured soft ground. On weather-watch, but one for the shortlist if forecast rain does arrive.

4

Goliath

French-trained 5yo gelding. The world seemed his oyster when he ran away from a strong field including subsequent Arc-winner Bluestocking in last year’s King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot. Twice a winner since, but against weaker opposition. One for the shortlist.

5

Rebel’s Romance

Globetrotting superstar who really does not need an introduction. Four from four in German G1s over the years, and, while this looks a deeper field than some he has encountered, he is clear on ratings and the one they all have to beat.

6

Straight

A regular player in World Pool races. First start for yet another new trainer, and while best of form clearly gives him a shout, he is probably best just watched at present.

7

Hochkonig

The reigning German Derby hero with this being his first run since that excellent win in early July. Fair chance at the weights, and fascinating contender though last Derby-winner to win this was in 2008.

8

Path Of Soldier

Fourth to Hochkonig in German Derby, just lacking the winner’s acceleration that day. Represents a top team and a very interesting contender, even given the recent modest record of 3yos in this.
