S3-2 The Hong Kong Jockey Club World Pool Hopeful Stakes - Form Comments

21/08/2025 15:11

Listed – 1200m – Turf

1 Toyotomi A narrow Listed winner over 1100m at Deauville in April. Now trained in the UK, he was too free when fading at Chester this month but gives the impression he will win again soon.
2 Apollo One Not disgraced on any of his four 2025 runs but yet to recapture the flair he showed when winning a soft-ground G3 over this trip at Ascot last October.
3 Elmonjed Sometimes looks quirky but in a tongue tie/cheekpieces combination he finished fast to beat 18 rivals at York in July. Didn’t have much luck at Goodwood since.
4 Ferrous A specialist at this trip though his three wins this season have come on an all-weather surface. Faded in a G3 at Newbury last month.
5 Iberian Though he won a soft-ground G2 back in 2023, it is no surprise to see his sights lowered, having not made much impact in G2 and G1 company this season.
6 Lethal Levi A nine-times winner who is proven effective over this C&D. All good efforts this season including in a higher grade than this. Chances.
7 Shagraan Some smart efforts this season without quite managing a win. Mostly competes over around 1000m, but fine at this trip. Fast ground would be ideal.
8 Ten Pounds Scored a front-running 1400m victory in a handicap over Newmarket’s Rowley Mile course and a close third in a 1200m Royal Ascot handicap are this season’s highlights.
9 Invictus Gold Didn’t make much of a splash over this C&D last month, not helped by a big hike in the weights earned from a fluent victory over the Rowley Mile here in May.
10 Pellitory Three wins have all come over further than this. Some fair efforts on recent starts but may not quite have enough speed for this.
11 Dubai Treasure Has won two of her 2025 three starts, latterly with a career-best performance at Goodwood, defying top weight in a handicap and looking suited to the drop to 1200m.
