1409m – Turf
American Gulf | Tom Marquand booked for this colt who was made favourite when scoring easily on his Windsor debut. Restless in the gates when 13th in a Royal Ascot G2.
Hey Tru Blue | Justified favouritism in good style on his latest start, skipping clear of 12 rivals in a Doncaster maiden. Respected in this handicap debut.
Victorious One | Second on all three starts, latterly when leading only to be headed in the last stride at Epsom. The stable won this last year.
Goldwork | Up to 1400m now and into a handicap but has the advantage of Goodwood experience, having beaten five rivals here in May.
Sir Albert | Has won his last two starts latterly in a handicap over this trip at Chester, strong at the end that day. A 4lb rise unlikely to stop further progress.
Spinning Lizzie | Looked smart when a well supported winning favourite over 1200m on her debut. Couldn’t make an impact in a Royal Ascot G3 subsequently.
Amazing Journey | Has won his last two starts, doing particularly well to accelerate from last place to win a 1200m York handicap this month. Bred for this longer trip.
Champion Island | Led throughout to win a 1400m all-weather novice. Led again back on turf in a Chester handicap but found one rival too strong late on.
Sovereign Bright | Only headed near the end in a Doncaster maiden in June but failed to build on that when a disappointing favourite at Southwell.
Steel Drum | Yet to win but not beaten far the last twice, latterly doing his best work at the end when third in a Chester handicap.
Gascony | Needs to improve but best effort came when up to this trip this month finishing second in a Leicester handicap, always prominent then.
