G3 – 2403m – Turf
Galveston | Looked to have stolen a winning lead in a G2 over a similar trip to this at Royal Ascot but was grabbed. That still a career best and interesting to see his tactics here.
Merchant | Proven over this trip and on an upward curve. His rousing surge up the straight to win a Royal Ascot handicap suggested that he is Group class Chances.
Rahiebb | Improving as he has risen in distance and class. Did most things right in a Royal Ascot G2 just failing to deliver a winning kick after wandering off a straight line. Wants a strong gallop.
Sir Dinadan | Couldn’t handle one rival here in May but that gelding went on to land a Royal Ascot G2. A fine effort in the Irish Derby – briefly looking like landing a shock win – before wilting late.
Too Soon | Looks to face a tough assignment. Led for some of the trip at Sandown last time but had raced much too freely and fizzled out fast.
Wimbledon Hawkeye | Running well in some hot contests this year without managing a win, latterly only finding one stronger finisher too good in a 2400m Newmarket G2. Quick ground suits best.
Windlord | Twice acted as pacemaker for brilliant Field Of Gold but, down in grade, narrowly and bravely won a Listed event at Sandown though having a hard race. Up in trip now.
