G3 – 3200m – Turf
| Shoot The Rapids | Never far back and narrowly beaten last year. Stays the trip well but carries 9lb more than last year. However, he is better off at weights with likely favourite King Pelles and cannot be written off. |
| Madison Valley | Has built up nicely into this race and was finishing strongly in the recent Durban July. He finished fifth last year but has 11lb more to shoulder this time around. |
| Positive Attitude | His last run is best ignored as the saddle slipped. He has won over 3000m and once second over 3200m. He comes from a canny stable and can run into the money. |
| King Pelles | Has hit form at the right time. He was most impressive in the G3 Gold Vase over 3000m quickening up smartly in the straight and had the race in the bag a long way out. The one to beat. |
| Nebraas | A previous winner of this race and stays well. He was disappointing behind King Pelles last run after showing good form but comes in with a handy weight and would not be a surprise winner. |
| Blackberry Malt | Steps up to this trip for the first time but was not disgraced in a strong field last time out. It has been a long time since his last win. |
| Future Swing | Way better than his recent form where he looks safely held by King Pelles. He has been given a rating drop and given his best form he has a chance. |
| Cape Eagle | Never one to shy away from a battle but was well beaten by King Pelles last time out. He is 5lb better off at the weights but goes this trip for the first time and could be hard-pressed to turn the tables. |
| Taxhaven | Won the Listed Gold Bowl over 3200m at Turffontein beating Nebraas three runs back. He was lame when beaten by King Pelles in the G3 Tote Derby but does look to have more to do. |
| Bournemouth | Arrives with strong Fairview form over ground, a center proud of their stayers. He takes on stronger here with a big weight and could find it tough going but definitely has money chance. |
| Holding Thumbs | Runner-up to King Pelles at his last two and knocking at the door. He is 2lb better off with his rival but that may not be enough to turn the tables. |
| Navajo Nation | Nearly caused a major upset last run in a strong field. He is likely to start at long odds as he goes this trip for the first time but comes from a stable renown for preparing stayers. |
| Field Marshal | Steps up to this trip for the first time and is better than his last run effort. He should struggle at these weights but has a money chance should he stay the distance. |
