1600m – Turf
1 | Wolf Of Badenoch | Competed at a high level in 2024 including second in a G2. Didn’t make much impact on 2025 return. |
2 | La Botte | A runaway maiden winner in March. Then acquitted himself well when fourth in a much stronger race at Newmarket last month. Up to 1600m. |
3 | Hott Shott | Twice a winner at two, and decent efforts this year until failing to stay over a longer trip than this last time. |
4 | Supido | A winner over this trip when trained in France last year. Made an encouraging first UK start at Chester last month. |
5 | Arabian Story | Showed little in two dirt starts at Meydan but much better when impressively bossing from start to finish at Chelmsford last month. |
6 | Afentiko | Definitely looked to have progressed from two to three when a strong-finishing third in a handicap over 1634m at Haydock. |
7 | Seagolazo | Had a good first season though his best effort was on much slower ground than expected here. |
8 | Teroomm | Having an excellent season winning all three starts, latterly with a career best over 1634m at Haydock. Could still be ahead of the handicapper. |
9 | Mr Chaplin | Gelded since last year when he was twice a winner. Not quite so good on his 2025 return but had a difficult passage. Up to 1600m. |
10 | Thunder Wonder | Has won twice during quite a busy 2025, latterly over a bit further than this in a Musselburgh handicap. A tough colt but this looks hard. |
11 | Hawksbill | Proved himself on fast ground and over this trip when winning at Haydock last year. Two good efforts this year and worth considering. |
12 | Consolidation | Gelded over the winter and looked better than ever when charging from the back – after looking outpaced – to win a 1400m Goodwood handicap. |
13 | Dividend | Twice a winner of all-weather handicaps over 1612m earlier in the year. May have been excuses for a subsequent less good turf effort. |
14 | Brise Noir | Both starts this year have come over further than this, winning a fast-ground Windsor novice event and then fourth in Listed company in Bordeaux-Le-Bouscat. |
15 | Serengeti | Hasn’t so far replicated encouraging form of 2024 in two starts this season. Not very fanciable, even from this stable. |
16 | God Of War | Gelded now, he made a bright start to 2025 when only just failing to land a Chester handicap. Only needs to compete off a 1lb higher mark here. |
17 | Defence Minister | Well beaten in a 1200m Listed contest on only 2025 start, but James McDonald an interesting booking. |
18 | Fearnot | Having a rewarding season so far, latterly proving himself over this straight 1600m in style with a runaway fast-ground handicap victory. Only downside is a 10lb hike. |
19 | Linwood | This will be tough on first start for 285 days, against so many battle hardened rivals. But he did look smart last year, winning twice. |
20 | Shameful | Just found one local rival too strong when taken to the Curragh for a 1400m handicap last month. Bred with possibilities of thriving at 1600m. |
21 | Iceford | Needs to prove himself over a longer trip and likely faster ground. But has looked smart in 2025 and won at the Curragh last month. |
22 | Shout | Positive efforts on both starts this season, especially with his close third in a 1400m handicap here last month, despite blowing the start then. |
23 | The Fingal Raven | Finished well into second in a 1600m Listed event at Meydan in March. Didn’t threaten the winner then, but that colt went on to win Newmarket’s 2000 Guineas. |
24 | Tribal Nation | Didn’t quite handle G3 company two starts back but did good late work after missing the break when third in a Naas handicap. |
25 | Raafedd | Looked the type to thrive in handicaps when comfortably winning a 1400m novices’ event at Newbury. Needs to prove that theory now. |
26 | Parole d’Oro | Good efforts on both 2yo starts and came close to giving weight all round when second in novices’ company at Thirsk in April. Fast ground suits. |
27 | Fifth Column | Though he had to fight hard each time he has justified favouritism in both 2025 starts, latterly in a Sandown handicap over this trip. |
28 | Brave Mission | Finished well into second in a 1400m Ascot handicap last month, giving the distinct impression that he would be fine with this 1600m. |
29 | Arctic Grey | Winner of two of his three starts, the figures suggesting race-by-race improvement and latterly quickening impressively in a 1600m Goodwood handicap. |
30 | The Lost King | Looked to have progressed in the 230 days since his previous start when third in a Sandown handicap. Raced too freely that day. |

31 | Competizione | Yet to win but going in the right direction, and may have come across an above-average rival when second at Chelmsford. |
32 | King Casper | Made a winning 2025 return in fine style at Newmarket. Ran a good fourth under a 9lb higher mark at Haydock. Fitted with a hood now. |
33 | Mississippi River | All good efforts in 2025 but hasn’t quite managed to justify favouritism on his last two starts. This is likely to be the quickest ground he has tackled. |
