1000m – Turf
1 |
Clarendon House |
Looked the likely winner of this in 2023 until just grabbed close home. Mixed fortunes since but this speedster is in here with a chance especially on a fast surface. |
2 |
Democracy Dilemma |
Blitzed from the gates and led for much of the way in this last year, only just caught. Not at his fastest in two starts so far in 2025, but likely to have been targeted towards this. |
3 |
Desert Cop |
Had a rewarding time in Bahrain earlier this year, most recently when too quick for his seven rivals in a local G1. Tackling Epsom’s all-speed 1000m for the first time. |
4 |
Spartan Arrow |
Has only raced here once and that was when delivering a smart winning performance under top weight in April. Not so good at York last time but possibilities back here. |
5 |
Dream Composer |
Kept on strongly in the last 400m of this last year, leading close home. Faces a harder task at the weights now but if the ground turned slow it would enhance his chance. |
6 |
Tees Spirit |
Led almost throughout to win this back in 2022. This speedball has won five sprinting prizes since then and probable excuses for a poor show at York last time. |
7 |
Jm Jungle |
Likely to be one of the favourites after a succession of lively performances in sprint handicaps, most recently when third at York. Best on good ground or faster. |
8 |
Vintage Clarets |
Didn’t make a big impact on his only previous Epsom start. Not beaten far on his last two starts but doesn’t appeal as being well handicapped right now. |
9 |
The Bell Conductor |
This veteran is an eight times winner. But he didn’t show much on his first start for this stable, in April. Hard to fancy. |
10 |
Fair Wind |
First start at this downhill track, but he did win a nice 1000m handicap sprint prize at Ascot last July. Outpaced at Chester last month on his first run for 282 days. |
11 |
Jer Batt |
Hasn’t won since scoring at Haydock last August, but plenty of good shows in handicap sprints and wasn’t beaten far at Chester last time. Prefers good or slower ground. |
12 |
Rhythm N Hooves |
A consistent sprinter who was a close third from a difficult gate at Windsor last time. Likely to give it his best shot again but a few others look better handicapped. |
13 |
Michaela’s Boy |
Only one win from 19 starts on turf but he ran a solid fourth over this C&D in April. Gave the impression that he had no worries with this eccentric track that day. |
14 |
Ziggy’s Missile |
Proved that he could handle turf as well as the all-weather when winning at Nottingham. Led at Windsor last time but faded right out. Fast ground may have been the problem. |
15 |
Existent |
Frustratingly has finished second on his last four starts, only narrowly beaten the last twice. Also unlucky here in April, continually denied room to challenge. Possibilities. |
16 |
Marching Mac |
Had a golden spell late last year, winning five sprint handicaps in a relatively short space of time, mainly on slow ground. Likely to be sharper for last month’s return to action. |
17 |
One Night Stand |
Prominent until weakening in the closing stages at Musselburgh last time. Didn’t have the best of passages when sixth here previously. |
18 |
Blind Beggar |
Doesn’t win very often but is quite a consistent speedster. Has plenty of gate speed as he showed at Ascot two starts back but others look preferred here. |
19 |
Nogo’s Dream |
More reliable than he used to be, shaping well on both turf and all-weather surfaces this year. Always prominent when a winner on quick ground at Windsor last month. |
