1600m – Dirt

Cobra Has had poor luck with the draw for several races. Return to venue closer to home base and the Tokyo 1600m are pluses. Looking good in work for first time in a while. But still may not be competitive here.
Danon The Volcano Highly competitive here. Is 9-3 at this level with most recent start on 11 May over Tokyo 1600m. Had gate toward outside, was slow to pick up speed, then traveled on outside. With more ground-saving trip, a win easily within reach. Miho-based added plus.
Fujimasa Teio Moving up from the NAR circuit but times likely not competitive here. Expect to be outclassed.
Glanz Atem Two months between races for this horse and recent results lackluster. Best results with this trip, and looking strong in track work but recent performance and no sharpener minuses.
Ground Beat Posted 7-10-11 in last three starts, two of them at this distance at Tokyo. Has won over Tokyo 1600m. Showing improvement in trackwork. Could get lucky.
Grover Tesoro Looking sharp in work for first time in while. Being given at least 500m less than recent starts. Speed average but could get lucky if trip suits.
Ho O Superior After 17 starts on turf, given career first dirt test (1400m) at this level end of March and did surprisingly well. Could surprise, especially as Tokyo dirt 1600m starts on turf.
Jasri Conditions have not favored recently. If otherwise, along with extra 200m, may get lucky. Tokyo 1600m was good fit early in career.
One Putt Normally raced in 1800m-2400m being dropped to 1600m after poor performance in first start at this level (Tokyo 2100m on 3 May). Track work only average.
Orede Iinoka Honest runner tries hard but has best two fifths over last 8 starts. However, this time 200m less than recent starts and return to Tokyo pluses. Looking on toes in work. Worth a longshot wager.
Rata Forest Highly consistent colt and 1600m specialist moving up in class after win at Tokyo 3 May. Breaks well, can handle any going. Very promising.
River True Lackluster results in 12 starts at this level but occasionally surprises with showing in the money, including over Tokyo 1600m. Longshot candidate to fill out a trio.
Saimon Bouquet Second start at this level with usual distance being cut by 200m. A big mare, may find spacious Tokyo to liking. If trip suits could have a chance.
Terrific Plan Highly consistent Miho-based colt (six of seven finishes in money) looked poised for win on third start at this class. But trip didn’t suit with strong pace and frontrunners holding ground. Has won over Tokyo 1600m before. Very promising if excellent late speed is called for.
Top Of Jealous Has posted 2-9-2-9 at three different right-handed tracks at this level. Has raced in 1700m-2100m range, with 2-1-6 at Tokyo early in career. Drop in distance should suit with early speed. Has chance.
Turquoise Fringe Highly consistent colt moving up in class with all but one of six finishes (a fourth) in the money. Last three races all over Tokyo 1600m, most recent 1 month ago. Early speed adds to options. Can handle any ground. Looking fresh and eager in work.
