1600m – Turf
1 |
Coeur d’Or |
Continues on a career high mark and hasn’t won since August 2023. However, he retains plenty of ability and can’t be dismissed on seasonal debut. |
2 |
Indigo Five |
The mare reserves her best for this track (three wins) and not at her best at Gowran Park (sixth) last time. However, it’s not impossible that she could bounce back. |
3 |
Orandi |
In the form of his life, having won a big handicap here in March. Posted another fine effort last time and could be ahead of the handicapper. |
4 |
Blues Emperor |
Has risen in the ratings since Dundalk all-weather success in October. Equally adept on turf but the market will probably be the best guide to his chances on his seasonal debut. Ran fifth in this last year. |
5 |
Skukuza |
The British raider, placed at Royal Ascot last season, caught the eye when a running-on sixth on the Newcastle all-weather last time. The extra 200 metres should also be a bonus. |
6 |
State Actor |
Made big strides forward last season and loves this track. The gelding is back to defend his title but is unraced since October. |
7 |
Akecheta |
Splendidly consistent, having been in the money in all her eight career starts, and plenty to like about her strong finishing effort here in late March. |
8 |
Perfect Judgement |
On a roll on the Dundalk all-weather (three wins) in the winter, but will need to improve on previous course form figures which read 4-4-13. |
9 |
Grey Leader |
Gained solitary 2024 success at Galway but form otherwise patchy. Safely held on reappearance. Improvement needed. |
10 |
Exquisite Acclaim |
Has done the bulk of his winning on the Dundalk all-weather (six wins), but turf record (1 win from 22) is less inspiring. |
11 |
Presence |
This course and distance winner has yet to match last season’s eloquent form figures. From a top yard, the filly can do better. |
12 |
Lord Church |
Turned the corner last season (three wins) and solid reappearance effort (third) on debut run for current trainer also bodes well for his chances. |
13 |
Serialise |
Outran her odds on four occasions last season. Likely to have come on for her third at Cork earlier this month and there could be more to come. |
14 |
Slieve Binnian |
Makes his third appearance for current yard, having forged a reputation as an all-weather specialist (four wins). His turf record is less impressive (one win), but he has been given some respite by the handicapper. |
15 |
San Aer |
Campaigned under both codes but currently riding a long losing sequence dating back to October 2023. Others preferred. |
16 |
Derry Lad |
Hasn’t made the frame for almost a year and struggling at present to recapture past glories. Makes second appearance for current yard. |
17 |
No More Porter |
Talented if inconsistent sort. However, all three wins have been at this course and one to note if attracting market support. |
18 |
Enchanted Garden |
Lightly raced but boasting a good wins to runs ratio. Made a winning reappearance at Leopardstown and could surprise. |
19 |
Eighty Eight |
Tends to reserve his best for the all-weather at Dundalk nowadays, and record at the Curragh is modest. |
