Listed – 2400m – Turf
Balaji | In poor form after being gelded, gradually recovered since May 2024. Beaten 2.5L in G2 and G3, following three good performances in Listed, including two placings in last two starts. Tokyo suits with one win, one second and two thirds, three of those over same distance. Promising. |
Brave Rocker | Best second in open-class competition, while best 6th in five graded stakes. Showed improvement last out in third start from return, posting third despite traffic in open-class test over Hanshin 2600m. First time at Tokyo. Best 5th in only three left-handed starts. Could surprise. |
End Roll | Third start after returning after nearly two years of rehabilitation. Coming off a sixth over Nakayama 2500m. Has two wins over Tokyo 2400m, albeit at lower levels, but stayer blood a plus. Could surprise. |
Gruner Green | Has raced primarily in 1800-2000m range with a G3 win in 2yo, then no top three finish in subsequent 14 starts. On the board five times from seven starts at Tokyo. Worth a longshot wager. |
Keiai Sandera | 6th in Listed mid-April with only 1.5L behind winner. Finished 3L 9th in G2 Meguro Kinen (2500m) last year, his only start at Tokyo. Tends to lead or race close to pace. Likely outclassed. |
Meiner Campana | Finally won in 3-win class on his seventh try in same course and distance last time, beating Sunrise Earth by a neck, which ran 4th in G1 Tenno Sho Spring recently. Showing improvement in work, but this very light runner will carry 7lbs more this time. |
Meiner Chrysola | Racing in the open class for eight starts now, six graded, with best a third. Returned late Jan after 6 months off and notched 9-5 in two G2 events, only 0.8L off winner last start. Six of eight finishes at Tokyo in first three. Return to listed race company, venue bode well. |
Schilthorn | 2 wins from 23 career starts. Despite won maiden and 1-win class only, has proved competitive in open-class events, including third in G3 Epsom Cup last year. First try on 2400m but should be able to handle given bloodline. |
Volante | Raced in three-win class for the first time in his 30th start last out. Three starts on turf after switching from dirt in January. Has posted 2-1-8 but speed likely not competitive here. |
Wide Emperor | Highly consistent over Tokyo 2400m. Won by a neck in early October, over a runner then finished third in G2. Has speed. Returns after seven months, a plus with Christophe Lemaire on the saddle. |
