2100m – Dirt

Bannerman Tesoro Won wire to wire over Tokyo 2100m in early Feb. Failed to fire last start when stumbled just after break. Looking good in trackwork. Condition key on raceday. Could surprise.
Cannelle Had moved up steadily, then narrowly missed win in first start at this level last November. Has done poorly in two starts since return in February. Has chance if condition improves, but still looking short of best in work.
Gravis Moved up in class with switch to dirt but since has posted 3-7-8 at this level, with best result over the Tokyo 2100m. Return to Tokyo after last two starts at Hanshin could prove a plus.
Ho O Bergson Broke maiden over this course and distance, then slumped through next three starts, all at Nakayama. Won at Chukyo in late March and expected to take well to Tokyo once again. Work solid. Promising.
Hrungnir Despite outstanding start to career, has continued to disappoint from early last year. Not promising.
Kazu Tanja Standout in this field. Only two wins from career 15 but consistently in the money, including three of four starts at this level. However, lacks early speed and can lose concentration if distanced from pack. Can race at good speed at length. First time at Tokyo, but should suit.
Mountain Ace Is 4-5-6 since moving to this level and has never been too far off the front. Getting good times and looking eager in trackwork. Could be competitive here, but returning after three months off.
Pure Groove Won over Tokyo 2100m in February last year, but failed to perform in next three outings. Likely not a contender.
Rafale d’Or Got lucky with winning tactics alone last out, notching second win from 14 starts, mostly under similar conditions. Likely not competitive amid this field.
Ruler Rich Despite some good performances last year, last four starts disappointed. Footwork sharp in trackwork, but times slow and returning after nearly five months. Not promising.
Selectio Has speed but increasingly inconsistent of late and racing from far off pace. Showing some improvement in morning work. Has done well at Chukyo and first time at Tokyo may prove favorable.
Shigeru Kamikaze Has failed to win in nine starts at this level but has come close on occasion. Can do well if able to lead but hasn’t had luck of the draw. Big horse suited to Tokyo and responses sharp in work. Worth a wager.
Sigmund Big colt has only four finishes in the money from 14 starts but three of those came over this course and distance. Looking good in work. Could surprise in third start after spell.
Soul And Jazz Switched to dirt for a 1-6-5 with win over flat Kokura track. Nakayama hill in final stage took its toll in last two outings. Condition is good and has speed, with 300-metre shorter trip this time a likely plus. However, first time at venue and Tokyo is a high bar.
Sunrise Wave Finally notched second win on 10th start all over similar trips. Lacks speed and lackluster in trackwork. Likely not a contender here.
Taisei Addict On a streak of 2-2-2-1-2 (second in all three starts over this course and distance). Last out in first start at this level lost by half a length to a horse that then posted a double and made it to the open class. Has done well from any post position. Promising.
