G3 – 1600m – Turf

1

Evaporate

Extremely consistent gelding who finished 1.5L 2nd in the Listed The Kiwi (1500m) at Ellerslie, New Zealand, on 8 March. Has since trialled over 1050m at Randwick on 28 March. Has been good in Group races and the one to beat.

2

Swiftfalcon

Excellent credentials for this. Was 2nd in a 1400m G2 at Rosehill in first up and then 3rd in G1 Randwick Guineas (1600m), followed by last start 0.73L 3rd in G1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) on 22 March. Return to 1600m suits.

3

Depth Of Character

Just battled to the line when tackled the G1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) on 8 March at big odds and ran accordingly. This is much easier and is likely improver. Has trialled since over 1000m when finished 5 of 10.

4

Saint Emilion

First-up run in G3 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on 15 February was poor, finishing 17.95L last of 13. Made up ground at the 400m mark but faded quickly. Has since trialled over 1200m but hard to consider.

5

Shangri La Spring

Front-runner who will take catching. Won three in a row last year and finished 0.61L 3rd in first-up run over 1400m in the Listed Canberra Guineas on 9 March. Was 2nd in 1000m Hawkesbury trial on 25 March.

6

Sigiriya Rock

Ideally suited at the 1600m after 3.55L first-up 6th at Wyong over 1350m on 19 March when raced handy. Has four seconds and a win from six starts. Can challenge for a place at odds.

7

Kalkallo

Scratched

8

Brigidine Gal

Has been sound in 4 runs back from a spell, with the latest a 1.62L 3rd over 1900m at Rosehill on 22 March, Won three starts ago over 1300m and then 3rd at 1600m. Back to 1600m should suit and is good on soft ground.

9

Pleasure Artist

Resumed at Newcastle with 5.43L 9th on 20 March. Got back and battled to the line without threatening over 1400m. Wasn’t disgraced in two G1 runs last year. Placed at only 1600m run and rise in distance suits.

10

Fingers Hunter

Has won his past two at country tracks at a much lower grade. Hasn’t been disgraced at three runs on metropolitan tracks but needs to show a lot more at a higher level before risking here.
