G1 – 1200m – Turf

1

Waitak

Won this race last year when came from well back but was disappointing at most recent run on soft Trentham. Form before that was good. Shares top weight of 128lbs and has outside barrier.

2

Mercurial

Consistent galloper who was third in this race at big odds last year when raced handy. Is a G1 winner. Was beaten 6.2L at most recent run in the G1 The Telegraph (1200m).

3

Crocetti

Narrowly beaten when 3rd at last start in the G3 Concorde Stakes (1200m) on 7 December. Is racing well enough to be one of the major dangers with blinkers on first time.

4

Bonny Lass

Shifted out under pressure in the straight when 4.7L 6th in the G1 The Telegraph (1200m) on 4 January. Hasn’t had much luck in recent runs and needs to find improvement.

5

Sacred Satono

Was overhauled but fought on to finish 2nd in the G1 The Telegraph (1200m) on 4 January. Has been close-up in all past 5 races at Group level. Is versatile but will appreciate a firm track.

6

Master Fay

Finished 4th and 1st in two trials to prepare for this after last racing on 4 October when finished a narrow 3rd in 5-horse field over 1300m. Is good first-up but this is tough.

7

Luberon

Winner of 6 of her 12 races. Last in the G1 The Telegraph (1200m) on 4 January. Won 3 in a row, including 2 at G3 level, at last campaign. Goes well fresh.

8

Platinum Attack

Faces a tough task in a quality field. Finished 5th, beaten 4.6L, in the G1 The Telegraph (1200m) on 4 January when began awkwardly and lost ground.  Good in lower level races.

9

Babylon Berlin

Veteran mare who has had 2 trials since gutsy victory in the G3 Concorde Stakes (1200m) on 7 December when she won by a head. Likes to race on the speed and will certainly give a big sight.

10

Poetic Champion

Withdrawn

11

Captured By Love

Last start winner of the G1 NZ 1000 Guineas (1600m) on 16 November. The 3-year-old filly will carry just 116lbs. Has outstanding fresh form and is a winning chance.

12

Alabama Lass

Brilliant 3YO filly who finished 2nd to Captured By Love over 1600m at last start. Carries the 115lbs minimum and is unbeaten first-up. Has never been out of the money in her 6 starts. The one to beat.
