G1 – 1000m – Turf

1

Future Variety

Punches above his weight. Has a few to beat but should not be far away. Top 4 at best.

2

Cruise Control

Very speedy visitor from Port Elizabeth. Not beaten far in a G1 when unlucky in the past. Dangerous at best. Will have the pack chasing.

3

Surjay

Just reward when winning Grade 1 at Greyville in July. Always seems this trip is too short. Likeable trier who always runs with credit.

4

Dyce

Won this race last year. In better form with similar prep. Huge contender under Piere Strydom.

5

Ziyasha

Threw his name into the hat after hard fought last win when giving chunks of weight. Doubts if he can win at this level but not without a glimmer of hope.

6

Gimme A Prince

Another former winner of this race. Huge 1600m run last time at Grade 1 level. Dangerous if he still has the legs over this trip.

7

King Regent

Having a good season but against weaker. Deserves a crack at this race but would be a surprise winner.

8

Cafe Culture

Huge comeback run after five-month break. Showed his class in July. Competitive and one to bookmark.

9

Lucky Lad

Another former Grade 1 winner. Solid performance in the G1 King’s Plate (1600m) when making up good ground. Do not write off.

10

Questioning

Big eyecatcher last time but doubts whether he will be finishing off well enough in time. Has big wins to come but might not be the right race.

11

Seeking The Stars

Gallant old soldier. Most effective over further but would be a deserving big race winner. A few to beat.

12

King Of The Gauls

Hit and miss. Good enough on his day but can run a shocker. Could get into the mix at best but takes on top field.

13

Asiye Phambili

Best over 1200m but won with plenty in hand last time. Will be covered up and asked to run late. Jockey had choices and decided in this filly.

14

Cosmic Highway

Top sprinter but not the most reliable. Might have had better days and stable companion, Gimme A Prince is preferred.

15

Bereave

Not prayerless. His style of running could make him a threat if the gaps open up. Been off colour over the last few months.
