National Day at Sha Tin Racecourse features stellar trackside entertainment

The National Day Raceday takes place at Sha Tin Racecourse on Tuesday (1 October) to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Free admission to the Sha Tin and Happy Valley Racecourse Public Enclosures^ is on offer as well as an array of trackside entertainment, taking centre stage along with the thrilling racing action. There are also catering and shopping discounts available.

Sha Tin opens for admission at 11am with the first of 10 races scheduled for 1pm, where the day’s highlight is the HK$4.2 million G3 National Day Cup Handicap (1000m), carded as Race 7. Cui Jianchun, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the HKSAR will officiate at the Opening Ceremony. Wang Songmiao, Secretary-General of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR will present the National Day Cup trophy.

Top performances at the Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony begins in the Parade Ring at 12pm with stunning cultural and artistic performances. A group of young martial artists led by homegrown talent Tsui Chun-kit and local drum team GEKKO will usher in the proceedings at Sha Tin. Renowned national tenor Zhang Yingxi will join the ceremony to lead the national anthem.

Live music from “Midlife, Sing and Shine!” personalities
Miranda Lee, Ramon Lo, Micgo Ngan and Faye Chan, from the TV singing show “Midlife, Sing and Shine!” will perform beloved classics onstage underneath Mezza One.

Tourist privileges
Visiting tourists who come to the Tourist Zone at Sha Tin and open a wagering account can enjoy a free Racecourse Guided Tour.

“75” themed offers
All items are offered with a special price set at 75% of their original purchase price at designated trackside catering outlets at Sha Tin and Happy Valley. Gift at Races (Sha Tin Racecourse Stores only) customers enjoy the same offer (excluding fixed-priced, consignment and discounted products).
