13/09/2024 17:34

Golden Sixty, the three-time Hong Kong Horse of the Year, recently retired from racing. To honour his achievements, The Hong Kong Jockey Club is hosting a retirement ceremony at Sha Tin Racecourse on Sunday, 22 September, before the superstar galloper heads to Japan for retirement.

Racing fans are invited to bid farewell and admire the athleticism of Golden Sixty at the thoroughbred’s final public appearance in Hong Kong.

To celebrate this memorable occasion, racegoers who wear a top or a cheering scarf, featuring a motif of Golden Sixty or its racing silk elements, can enjoy free admission to the Sha Tin Racecourse Public Enclosure from 11am. Race 1 commences at 1pm, while the retirement ceremony will start after Race 5 at 3.10pm. Another highlight of the day is Race 7, the HK$4.2 million G3 Celebration Cup Handicap (1400m), a race which Golden Sixty won in 2020.*

The nine-year-old won an unmatched 26 times in Hong Kong and boasts world-record earnings of HK$167.17 million.

During the ceremony, jockey Vincent Ho will ride Golden Sixty alongside owner Stanley Chan and trainer Francis Lui, as they engage with fans and express gratitude for their support in the Parade Ring. A Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Owner Stanley Chan in recognition of Golden Sixty’s achievements.

At 5pm, racegoers can participate in the “Sha Tin Racecourse Delights” quiz game, with the first 500 winners receiving an exclusive designated Golden Sixty souvenir pack, including a themed keychain, themed T-shirt and horse foldable tote bag.

In addition, a themed pop-up photo exhibition will highlight the milestones of Golden Sixty’s ten Group 1 victories at Sha Tin.
