1000m – Turf

1

Unbreak My Heart

Has been running in stakes races, now in a handicap for the first time. Best 2024 run was at Sandown when a close fourth after an unlucky passage. This looks challenging.

2

Got To Love A Grey

Nearer last than first in a tough Royal Ascot handicap when last seen. Had won a Listed sprint at Chantilly on heavy ground, and may now prefer a slow surface at this 1000m trip.

3

Toca Madera

Had twice performed well in 1200m G2 sprints – including here – as a 2yo. But yet to prove that he has trained on, with two comprehensive defeats this year.

4

Shagraan

Though failing to win he has shaped nicely in all four 2024 starts, not far from the winners’ money each time. A second career victory is unlikely to be far away.

5

We Never Stop

Looking to benefit from quick ground – though the first-time cheekpieces probably helped also – with a much-improved performance when dominating from the front at Redcar in June.

6

Kendall Roy

This speedster – who has a G1 entry later in the season – makes a quick return after justifying favouritism in a strong sprint handicap at Cork, his fifth career win during a busy career so far.

7

Grandlad

Has competed twice over this course and distance winning each time, so no surprise to see him back here in this more valuable Goodwood sprint now. May try and grab an early lead.

8

Dorney Lake

His two wins have come at around 1200m so may be outpaced by faster rivals here. Favourite at Newmarket last time but only finishing eighth. Good or fast ground preferred.

9

Chief Mankato

Has moved stables since a poor effort at York in June. Has revealed talent before, now dropping to 1000m for the first time. A good or faster surface may help.

10

Enchanting

Her last two starts have been over this course and distance, easily winning from the front in June but not able to dominate when second subsequently. Slow ground would help.

11

Cloud King

Returned to winning form at Haydock this month when pouncing from last to first and winning easily. No surprise if we see another good late swoop despite a 7lb higher mark.

12

Batal Zabeel

Does need the help of headgear and he wears cheekpieces again here, as he was for the first time when he won at Ripon in June. But still does not look an easy ride.

13

Mc Loven

Kept busy but looks to thrive on racing, gaining his third career victory on his latest start when bossing throughout in a Lingfield sprint handicap. More competition for the lead likely here.

14

Noel Fox

Dropped to this trip for the first time, but she showed enough speed to narrowly win that Lingfield handicap from a colt who went on to win his next race. A progressive type.

15

Make It Easy

Has posted some good sprint handicap efforts since moving to this stable though without managing a victory. She just needs to find a bit more to have winning prospects here.

16

Kiss And Run

Has Goodwood experience and came close to a sprint victory for her small stable here in May. It would still come as a bit of a surprise if she won this.
