G2 – 2392m – Turf
1 |
Candleford |
Respectable form at the track and successfully made all in Irish listed race last time, but a place is probably the extent of his ambitions at this level. |
2 |
Continuous |
Enters the equation on the strength of 2023 classic win (G1 St Leger Stakes) and fine fifth in the G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. Unraced this season but this race is very much part of his agenda. |
3 |
Crypto Force |
Has been keeping very smart company both in Ireland and France but was beaten 11L when third in G1 grade at the Curragh last time. |
4 |
Desert Hero |
Point to prove after Newbury blip (fifth as evens favourite) in G3 contest. However, he did win here last June and has the class to bounce back. |
5 |
Elegant Man |
Has improvement written all over him, although he was rather cut down to size when beaten 12.5Lin Irish G1 last time. |
6 |
Goliath |
The French raider has been building nicely this season, but he failed to land a blow (fourth) in G2 on latest attempt and has more on his plate here. |
7 |
Isle Of Jura |
In excellent form in Bahrain during the winter (four wins from five) which proved the springboard to listed success at Goodwood in May. Has more to do here but clearly operating at the peak of his powers. |
8 |
Middle Earth |
He showed his battling qualities by overcoming a slow start on route to winning a G3 race (the second has won since) at Newbury. Very much a leading player. |
9 |
Missed The Cut |
This useful US performer has done little wrong on the domestic circuit this season (a dual G3 winner). Ran a fair race when splitting two Godolphin performers in G2 contest last time, and he could sneak into a place. |
