2392m – Turf

1

Kolossal

Has her first run for British trainer. However, she showed smart continental form (G3 wins in Germany and Italy) last season. The betting will be the best guide.

2

Teumessias Fox

Smart on his day and all-weather win at Kempton in January makes for good reading. Below form since (over 2038m) but returns to his optimum trip.

3

Crystal Black

Continues in excellent form. Has excelled at the Curragh where he gained his fourth course win last month, but has risen again in the weights.

4

Mandoob

Possibilities on past form. However, he’s unraced since July 2022 and is still fairly high in the handicap.

5

Safecracker

This decent Irish handicapper shaped promisingly on reappearance (fifth) when short of room at the Curragh, and is one to note if attracting market support.

6

La Yakel

A course winner in September 2022, he closed his 2023 campaign with creditable second at York. Not unfancied but fitness needs to be taken on trust on seasonal debut.

7

Cumulonimbus

In great form last season (three wins) and good overall career record (five wins from 15), but the fact that he hasn’t raced since January is a slight concern.

8

Epic Poet

Hasn’t set the world alight since transferring from France, but fair sixth to an improving type at York last time was a step in the right direction.

9

Deakin

Made a promising return when second at the Curragh in May (the winner was completing a hat-trick), and clearly one for the shortlist.

10

Marhaba The Champ

Ran well below form (well fancied) when beating only one home on reappearance when running too freely. One to keep an eye on in the betting.

11

Bague d’Or

Improving with age and plenty to like about the manner of his win in competitive Newmarket handicap on his return.  Weighted accordingly but not of it.

12

Party Central

Ran on in the closing stages when a never dangerous eighth here on 18 June but clearly capable of better judged on overall career record.

13

Sea King

Began season with a bang after winning decent contest at Ripon, and clearly on song for this assignment.

14

Fairbanks

Has continued where he left off last season as underscored by Newcastle win and Hamilton second, but does need to defy a career high mark.

15

Shadow Dance

Signed off last season with very decent second in competitive Newmarket handicap. Unraced this term but could prove competitive off current mark.

16

Ethical Diamond

Just failed when attempting to give a decent performer 9lb (a winner since) in Leopardstown handicap. Should again be on the premises.

17

Struth

The yard love nothing better than to farm the big handicaps, and some encouragement to be had from bold display (third) at Haydock.

18

Vaguely Royal

Held his own against some decent customers in Newmarket (second) two starts back, and possibilities if he can repeat his Newmarket form.

19

Sheer Rocks

An improver last season and attained career high mark when fifth in competitive handicap at Haydock. Unraced this season but yard in good form.

Reserves

20

Ziggy

Is coming off two fine seconds in competitive Epsom handicaps. Is due a win and should again be thereabouts.

21

Tony Montana

Steady improver and only starting to find his feet as a four-year-old following wins at Chester and Windsor. More needed but the signs are positive.

22

Ndaawi

Far from disgraced when seventh in a big field in a valuable handicap here on 18 June. Didn’t get the clearest of runs and so not dismissed.
