The following is a summary of decisions that were made by the Licensing Committee at their meeting held earlier today:-

1.      The Committee resolved to grant, subject to an undertaking to arrive in Hong Kong no later than Sunday, 1 September 2024:

1.1     a full-season Club Jockey’s licence to each of the following jockeys for the 2024/25 racing season:
·         ATZENI Andrea
·         AVDULLA Brenton
·         BADEL Alexis
·         BENTLEY Harry
·         BOWMAN Hugh
·         DE MELO Keagan
·         FERRARIS Luke
·         HAMELIN Antoine
·         HEWITSON Lyle

1.2  a part-season Club Jockey’s licence to THOMPSON Ben for the 2024/25 racing season from 15 July 2024 up to 8 December 2024, both dates inclusive.

2.       The Committee resolved to:

2.1  grant a Freelance Jockey’s licence to each of the following jockeys for the 2024/25 racing season:
·         CHADWICK Matthew
·         CHAN Ka Hei Alfred
·         CHAU Chun Lok Jerry
·         CHUNG Yik Lai Angus
·         HO Chak Yiu Vincent
·         LEUNG Ka Chun Derek
·         MO Hin Tung Dylan
·         POON Ming Fai Matthew
·         YEUNG Ming Lun Keith

2.2    direct Management to inform CHAN Ka Hei Alfred in writing that his race riding performance and number of race rides during the current 2023/24 racing season are of concern and that should his race riding performance and number of race rides not improve significantly during the 2024/25 racing season, he may not be granted a further Freelance Jockey’s licence.

2.3    direct Management to inform MO Hin Tung Dylan in writing that his race riding performance and number of race rides during the current 2023/24 racing season are of concern and that should his race riding performance and number of race rides not improve significantly during the 2024/25 racing season, he may not be granted a further Freelance Jockey’s licence.

3.       The Committee resolved to grant an Apprentice Jockey’s licence to WONG Chi Wang Ellis (Allocated Trainer: Caspar Fownes) for the 2024/25 racing season.       

4.       The Committee resolved to:

4.1  grant a Trainer’s licence for the 2024/25 racing season to each of the following trainers, subject to a satisfactory medical examination being undertaken and the signing of an agreement with the Club:

4.2  approve that at the conclusion of the current 2023/24 racing season, should Mr TING Koon Ho Jimmy fail the criteria, he will be required to provide the Committee with a written explanation. 

4.3  The application from Mr YUNG Tin Pang Benno is under further consideration by the Licensing Committee at this time. 

5.      The Committee:

5.1     noted that LEE Kin Wa, William will be transferred to Trainer MO Wai Kit Cody’s CRC stables for the remainder of the 2023/24 racing season.

5.2     resolved to:
5.2.1 grant an Assistant Trainer’s licence for the remainder of 2023/24 racing season to each of the applicants listed below:

5.2.2 grant an Assistant Trainer’s licence for the 2024/25 racing season to each of the applicants listed below:

6.      The Committee approved the amendments to the Trainer’s Performance Criteria (‘the Criteria”) with immediate effect (season 2023/24 inclusive).  The updated Criteria are as follows: 

In order for a Trainer to satisfy the criteria, with immediate effect (i.e. 2023/2024 racing season inclusive), he must:
1. Achieve a minimum of 14 wins in a season if he is a single-site Trainer;
2. Achieve a minimum of 16 wins in a season if he is a dual-site Trainer.
