1000m - Turf

1

Clarendon House

Only beaten a neck in a typically thrilling finish to this last year. Facing an 11lb higher mark this time but in great form, zooming from the rear for a decisive York win in May.

2

Democracy Dilemma

Has improved since joining this specialist trainer of sprinters. Won at Chester in May and only just caught at Windsor after leading. Ran well on only previous Epsom start.

3

Silky Wilkie

Potentially very well handicapped. Denied a clear run in this last year but still only beaten a short head and races off an 8lb lower mark. Good chance if back at his best.

4

Chipstead

Has won eight of his 35 starts but now having his first run at Epsom. Best recent run was a victory on the all-weather at Lingfield, but an effective sprinter on turf also.

5

The Bell Conductor

A 1000m specialist who has won two of his four starts this year, most recently with a front-running victory on heavy ground at Pontefract. Probably needs slow ground.

6

One Night Stand

Led up the centre of the track for some of the way in this last year, eventually finishing a close fifth. Back here for his latest start but never threatened. More needed.

7

Dream Composer

First start at Epsom though this apprentice rider seems to have developed a good rapport, the pair twice only narrowly failing to win sprints at Goodwood in May.

8

Alligator Alley

Only 12th in this last year but can compete off an 8lb easier mark this time. This year’s starts have been fair but need improving on if he is to figure here.

9

Looking for Lynda

Solid placed efforts on his last three starts, including a good second over this course and distance in April. If in the same good shape then he has chances here.

10

Lord Riddiford

Some fair sprinting efforts on all-weather surfaces on his last five starts. Finished a solid fifth in this in 2021 though only 16th of 20 last year.

11

Live In The Moment

Led throughout to win a 1200m sprint at Goodwood last September. Best run since was when fourth at Doncaster last time. Has stamina so the likely brutal pace will help.

12

Night On Earth

Looks ideal for this downhill track as he showed when fast away and never headed over this course and distance in April. Back at Epsom after two respectable efforts elsewhere since.

13

Lethal Nymph

All four wins have come at around 1200m, a bit of a worry for this super-fast 1000m challenge. But did finish second over this trip at York on 25 May.

14

Antiphon

A tough five-times winner who looks versatile in terms of surface. Only caught late on after leading in a handicap sprint at Windsor on 25 May.

15

Law Of Average

Has progressed well since faced with handicaps and exploited a good gate at Lingfield when outspeeding his rivals in May. Facing older sprinters here makes this challenging.
