In the Racing Incidents Report issued following the Sha Tin racemeeting on Saturday, 11 May 2024, it was reported that a veterinary inspection of STURDY RUBY following the running of Race 9 had showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea.

Today the Stewards have been advised by the Department of Veterinary Regulation, Welfare and Biosecurity Policy that due to an administrative error such report was incorrect and that a veterinary inspection of STURDY RUBY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings and that a veterinary inspection of RIVER VIEWS immediately following the race had showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea.

Accordingly, the requirement for STURDY RUBY to complete an official veterinary examination has been removed and, as previously advised, before RIVER VIEWS is allowed to race again, it will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

The Racing Incidents Report has been amended accordingly.
