G2 – 3200m – Turf
| Al Nayyir | Has a good record when visiting Meydan though his wins at this track have come in handicap class and over shorter trips than this. Couldn’t find an extra kick at the end at King Abdulaziz last time. |
| Coltrane | Tough and brave, this seven times winner stays this trip well. Narrowly defeated in a Royal Ascot G1 last year, later winning a G2 at York. First start outside the UK but respected. |
| Daramethos | Arrives here fresh off a victory at Jebel Ali this month. That was on dirt and though he was third in a G2 at Meydan last year, he is not proven over this longer trip. A very unlikely winner. |
| Eldar Eldarov | Won a G1 UK Classic at Doncaster in 2022 and gained a similarly classy win on his last start when landing a 2800m G1 at The Curragh last September, always travelling nicely that day. Just needs to prove himself at this longer trip. |
| Enemy | Reaching the veteran stage but some recent starts at least as good as ever and looked all set to win a big-money prize at King Abdulaziz last month, until Tower Of London swooped late. |
| Giavellotto | This big horse defeated Eldar Eldarov in a tense battle for a G2 prize at York last year. His strong finishing third – under top weight – in a red-hot handicap at King Abdulaziz last month was encouraging. |
| Iron Barows | Loaded with stamina as he showed when winning a Nakayama G2 over 3600m last December. But two comprehensive defeats since makes this look difficult. |
| Passion And Glory | Has struggled to make a big impact in four starts in the Middle East this year. Looked to stay this trip when fifth in this in 2022 but his chances this time don’t look good. |
| Roberto Escobarr | Had some of these opponents well ahead of him with a poor effort at King Abdulaziz last month. Capable of much better and had led from the gate to crush his rivals in a G3 in Italy last November. |
| Sea Stone | At long odds but, despite not getting a clear run, he finished second in a G3 here last month. However, it is hard to see him bettering the convincing winner that day – Siskany – this time. |
| Siskany | Does his best and seems to particularly enjoy Meydan, advertising that with victories in Listed and G3 company there this year, latterly when accelerating impressively late on. Chance. |
| Sober | Stays well, responding to jockey pressure to win G2s at Longchamp and Deauville last year. Prepped for this with a solid all-weather second at Chantilly this month. |
| Trawlerman | Formerly a classy handicapper who has progressed into a formidable group race performer, rallying courageously to beat a four-times G1 winning stayer in an Ascot G2 last October. |
| Libyan Glass | Has some smart winning form in Japan though over notably shorter trips than this. Led but weakened quickly at King Abdulaziz last time. Hard to recommend. |
| Sevenna’s Knight | Surged from the back to win a Listed event over 2800m at Deauville last August, though the very soft ground there is unlikely to be the scenario here. Struggled to make a big impact in a prep for this at Chantilly. |
| Tower Of London | An interesting candidate given the way he came from a near-impossible looking position – twice finding himself without clear room – to zoom past rivals and win a highly competitive and valuable handicap at King Abdulaziz last month. |
