During the Sha Tin race meeting on Sunday, 24 March, the Takamatsunomiya Kinen (G1 1200m) will be simulcast live for betting from Chukyo Racecourse in Japan (14.40 Hong Kong time).
The Takamatsunomiya Kinen is open to four-year-olds and upwards and is one of only two Grade One turf sprints in Japan. The feature offers total prize-money of approximately HK$19.5 million. The 2024 running will be of huge interest to Hong Kong racing fans as the Danny Shum trained VICTOR THE WINNER bids to become the second winner for Hong Kong in the race, following AEROVELOCITY’s victory in 2015. The progressive five-year-old clinched the biggest triumph of his career when winning the G1 Centenary Sprint Cup in January under Derek Leung, who will once again take the reins in the Chukyo showpiece.
Final declarations with barrier draws for the Takamatsunomiya Kinen will be available on Friday, 22 March.
